Increase Max Upload File Size

Log into your Plesk control panel

Navigate to “PHP” settings for the domain you wish to increase the max upload size for.

Adjust the values using the dropdown select tool for “upload_max_filesize” and make sure that the “post_max_size” value is equal to or greater than this size as well.

When you are finished click “OK” or “Apply” at the bottom of the page. It may take a few minutes for the change to process. Once it’s complete you will be able to upload larger files within WordPress or other web applications.

For WordPress Multi-Site

If your website is configured as a WordPress Multi-Site or Network Site you will also need to set the max file upload size in the Network Settings.

  • Navigate to “Network Setting” from the upper left corner of the WordPress Dashboard
  • Navigate to  “Settings”
  • Scroll down to the “Max upload file size” field and adjust the value (in KB so for example 1MB = 1024 KB)

If this doesn’t take effect, then it could be that a max upload size value has been set for the site and it is not using this Network Default. To check and change:

  • Navigate to “Network Setting” from the upper left corner of the WordPress Dashboard
  • Navigate to “Sites” in the left menu
  • Hover over the site you wish to change, and click “Edit”
  • Click on the “Settings” tab
  • Scroll down to find the “Site Upload Space Quota” field and adjust this (in MB) to your new value. Or remove the value altogether to use the network default.
